Is every application to the City Color Cosmetics Affiliate Program automatically accepted?
Submitting an application to the City Color Cosmetics Affiliate Program does not mean automatic acceptance into the program. Each application is carefully reviewed and determined if your site or channel is a good fit for our program.

What are the criteria for being accepted into the City Color Cosmetics Affiliate Program?
An established website with at least 80-90% beauty-related content. Acceptable websites include YouTube Channel, Beauty Blog, or an established and beauty-centric Instagram page. At this time, the following types of websites are NOT accepted as a valid or sole type of beauty blog: Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, or Facebook.

Your site must include quality content, decent sound and lighting, and an established following to drive a reasonable amount of interest into the City Color brand and website.

How long does it take to find out if my application was accepted/rejected?
You will receive a response on your application within 14 business days.

Why was my application denied?
We reserve the right to accept or reject any application at our sole discretion. However, please consider the requirements for approval when reviewing your site.

Some of the reasons your application was denied may include:

Website traffic too low
Sporatic blog posts or activity
Majority of postings are not beauty-centric
Contains content deemed inappropriate
Invalid main blog type (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest)
Website not yet established in terms of quantity of posts, followers, content or date of creation

If my application is denied, is that it?
No – everyone had to start somewhere! After six months, you may reapply for the program. Please use that time to review and make any necessary changes that may not fit approval requirements.

Do I get paid commission each time my affiliate link is clicked on?
Commissions are only paid on clicks that generate a sale.

Is the Affiliate Program open internationally?
At this time the affiliate program is only open to U.S. bloggers.

Is there a cost to join the City Color Affiliate Program?
There is no cost to join the program.

Why do I have to give my social security number?
If you live in the U.S, you will have to provide your SSN for tax purposes.

I am a minor, can I sign up for the program?
At this time, the City Color Cosmetics Affiliate Program is only open to individuals 18+

I was accepted! When do I get my first products for review?
Acceptance into the program does not mean samples are automatically issued. We have many affiliates in our program and any samples issued are at the sole discretion of City Color. Occasionally during the course of your affiliation, you may be selected to receive products for different reasons including product launches, giveaways or blog features. However, all affiliates do get the benefit of 20% at any time for personal use (see below).

Do I get a discount on purchases?
Yes! All affiliates approved in our program get 20% off purchases from (subject to some exclusions such as bundles). In order to use your discount, please email and request a one-time code for use. There is no limit to how many times you can request and use a code, however be aware that the discount is reserved for affiliates only. If the code you receive is used by someone other than yourself, your account may be suspended or terminated. Codes are provided Mon-Fri 9-4pmPST. If you want to use your code together with a weekend markdown sale, we’ll be glad to refund the 20% difference the next business day.

Can I use my own affiliate link to receive a discount?
Absolutely not. We monitor all accounts and if we find out that you have been using your own affiliate link for purchases and therefore received both a discount and commission on your own account, your affiliate status will be immediately terminated.

How do I get paid my commission?
Payments are made through your PayPal account, although you may instead request your commission to be issued as store credit. If you are accepted into the Affiliate Program, you will be given the option of your preferred payment method. You will also have the option to change it for each payout.

When do I get paid my commission?
To receive payment, simply request a payout through your Affiliate Account Portal. Payment is issued once a month on the 10th (or the following business day). Any requests made after the 10th will be paid out the following month.

Is there a minimum to be reached before I can request a payout?
Unless you are terminating your account, your commission balance must reach a minimum of $50 in order to be eligible for payout through PayPal.

There is no minimum if you are requesting payout in the form of store credit.

How can I increase sales?
Make sure your affiliate link is visible on your social media sites. Once you are a part of the program, you will have access to assistance in hyperlinking, banner-linking and more. If you ever want tips on sales, feel free to email us for review and recommendations.

What is the commission rate?
Commission rate for affiliates ranges between 6%-10% (see below).

How can I receive a higher commission percentage?
There are three tier levels:

Tier 1 – 6%
Tier 2 – 8%
Tier 3 – 10%

Your account is always at Tier 1, but if you refer an affiliate who is subsequently approved into the program, you become Tier 2 for their account. What this means is if that referred affiliate makes a sale (6%) you will earn (8%) on that same sale, and so on for Tier 3. So, tell your friends! Note: the affiliate must click on your link before applying, or enter your affiliate email on their application.
